Connecting with your Child

Now I’m sure you have experienced the dreaded tantrum and I’m sure it’s gone down somewhere in public where everyone is looking at you and your child?

Nobody wants to experience this but when you find yourself in your third tantrum of the day, have you tried digging a bit deeper?

Have you been more disconnected from your child unintentionally lately?

Have you been working extra hours?

Spending more time with a new sibling?

I am no child expert but I am a Mom who has a pre-school teaching certificate.

And I have noticed when I take time to indulge whatever particular interest he has he is better adjusted throughout the day. For example, Andrew (my son) loves plants. So, we started going to our neighborhood Nursery. And we would take our time investigating as many plants as possible. This led to him having his own plant that he waters and keeps in his room. I simply fostered an interest that led to tasks for him to complete. And the more focus he has on something exciting the less he was freaking out about trivial daily tasks that we needed to do.

He also is learning a sense of accomplishment which leads to higher confidence by taking care of his plant regularly.
